I’m buying a fish tank (100-150L)..accessories..and fish?
right i want to buy an aquarium (100-150L)..what are all the accessories you need and what kinds of fish shoul€d i buy so that they won’t eat each other n stuff? thanx
Equipment:
Stand/cabinet strong enough to deal with a filled fish tank
Filter to deal with the ammonia and nitrite the fish produce
Test kit for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH
Heater (tropical and temperate, but also good for a fancy goldfish to stop the temp from plummeting in the winter nights)
Dechloronator for water changes
Hood with light/s
Background
Substrate (gravel/sand/planting substrate)
Decorations – plants/ornaments/bogwood, etc
Thermometer (more so for tropical and temperate)
Before you add fish, it’s important that you learn about the fishless cycle. This is when you add a source of ammonia to the tank and test the water on a daily basis until ammonia and nitrite hold 0 (yep – even before you get the fish, you need that test kit). More info in the link in Sources.
Regarding compatibile Fish Species – there are loads of fish that are suitable for the beginner community tank. The important thing to remember is not to mix large fish with fish that are small enough to be considered snack size as many fish will eat anything that will fit into their mouths, so choose fish which are similar sizes at adult length. Apart from that, it’s much easier for you to go round the shops and write a list of the fish you like the look of and ask about their compatibility/suitability to the tank size than it is for us to go through the list of compatibe species.
